Woolies for Window Channels !

‘Rattly’ windows or windows that won’t slide because they are too tight can be a problem and it is an easy and inexpensive problem to fix.

WOOLIES has a great range of window channels so we should have a suitable product for you.  The important criteria when choosing a window channel are the thickness of the glass and the inner width of the channel it is fitting in to, from these measurements we can make a suggestion as to which of our products will be suitable.

Our best selling window channel is part no.151 Flexible Window Channel  this fits both 3/16" (4.7mm) and 1/4" (6mm) glass so is very versatile.  This product has metal encased in it which is different to all the others which are rubber covered in a velvet lining.  It is used on all sorts of vehicles including BMW’s, Morris Minor’s, and Ford Pop’s.

The most traditional window channels we sell are part no.s 50 and 51.  These are for 4.7mm and 6mm respectively and are rubber covered in a velvet material. Part no. 50 is our smallest window channel and used e.g. on Land Rover Defender rear sliding windows.

A more modern alternative to 50 and 51….and also cheaper are part numbers 317 and 319.  These are called Universal as they have sides which lean out and have ‘ears’ on the inside of the channel so they are quite adaptable.

All the window channels mentioned so far come on a roll so you can order exactly the amount you want and you only pay for what you need.  If you order on the website you have to order in full metres but if you phone us up you can have parts of a metre e.g. 2.5mtr or 3.7mtr.

Rigid Window Channels

The other group of window channels we have are totally rigid.  If you need a metal channel we have a rigid alloy channel (part no. 233) which has inserts specifically for it (part no.116 for 4.7m glass and part no.117 for 6mm glass).

There is also one with stainless beads on it which was traditionally used on Morris Minor Travellers.  If you want to make a feature of the window channel this is the one to go for.

We also have a rigid version of part no. 151 so it fits both 4.7mm and 6mm thick glass, this is available in 2mtr lengths.

When none of the window channels fit…..there is always plain felt

If none of these pre-formed window channels will fit we have an alternative which is plain black felt which is pushed into the channel and forms the window channel.  You can cut off the excess so it makes a good fit, these are used e.g. on early Landrovers, the most popular sizes are 1” x 1/8” (25mm x 3mm) and 2” x 1/16” (50mm x 1.5mm)

For sliding windows/glass………double track window channels

If you have windows that slide you will need a double track channel and we have 2 to choose from, one for 4.7mm glass (part no. 336) and one for 6mm glass (part no. 337).

Well that covers the full range of window channels we offer, hopefully there will be something ideal for your application, if you want us to recommend which of our products will be suitable for you measure the thickness or your glass and the inner width of the channel it is going in to…..hopefully we will have something for you.
